Link Building Basics
When I first made the decision to begin an internet marketing career I did not have knowledge of the language necessary to understand and communicate properly with other online marketers. That was a major drawback!

Things do not change we change.---Henry David Thoreau

To begin, as with any language, learning one word at a time was my method. With the rapid growth of the Internet, it was important to learn quickly and continue learning. I find that to be successful, a webmaster needs to be able to speak the "language" of the land. So, to begin talking about link building, I’m also going to include several definitions. Some of you may not need this information, but others may appreciate it.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or the present are certain to miss the future.---John F. Kennedy

Let me start by discussing what linking building is. Basically this is the process of creating inbound links to your website. There are various ways to go about this, such as, reciprocal links, being listed in ezines/newletters, writing articles, directories, search engines, etc.

Let me explain what reciprocal links are. This is the process in which two webmasters agree to show the other’s link on their website. I like this principle because I like to extend a helping hand – but I must say that I have found some hands have pulled back from me when I’ve asked for a link! There are reasons for that…..elements that come into play can include: page rank, relevant content, webmaster’s preferences, etc. When you are seeking links you want targeted traffic – look for quality over quantity. You want and need links from sites that are related to or that compliment your own website.

There are programs referred to as “Link Exchange Programs”, which usually refers to a sign-up program where webmasters agree to host and link to a members only links page.

“Link Farm” is a term that is sometimes used to describe some link exchange programs which are nothing more than random links on a page. Those types of links usually do not help the website’s popularity.

Link popularity refers to the number of sites that link to a given site. This can be a determining factor in the search engine ranking of a website. Because link building and management plays such an important role in the success of an online business many programs have developed to provide help with that task.

Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.---Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Through some luck I am acquainted with a person that is very knowledgeable about link building.  His name is Devin and you can find his website at: VestRite   There you will find free resources and information related to this subject.  The FREE E-Books are well worth your visit and the membership is also free.

Do it now.---Napoleon Hill
